The .223 Winchester Super Short Magnum (WSSM) was introduced by Winchester in 2003 as part of the WSSM family. Based on a shortened, fat .300 WSM case necked to .224 caliber, it was designed to deliver .22-250 level velocities from compact short-action rifles.
