The .17 Ackley Bee, developed by P.O. Ackley in the 1940s, is a wildcat cartridge based on the .218 Bee case necked down to .17 caliber with Ackley’s signature improved shoulder design. It delivers extremely high velocities, minimal recoil, and excellent accuracy for varmint hunting. Although never standardized, it gained a loyal following among wildcat enthusiasts and small-game shooters for its flat trajectory, efficiency, and impressive performance from lightweight rifles.
