The .22-250 Ackley Improved, developed by P.O. Ackley, is an enhanced version of the classic .22-250 Remington. Featuring a steeper 40° shoulder and minimal body taper, it increases powder capacity and velocity while improving case life. Originating from Ackley’s mid-20th-century wildcat experiments, it became popular among varmint and long-range shooters seeking top accuracy and speed. Though never standardized, it remains a respected choice for custom precision rifles and reloaders.
